Mental & Emotional Health
If you are in urgent need to talk to someone, please call a crisis line. There is also a list of counselling services available for you to connect with professionals that are dedicated to helping people address their mental and emotional health.
If you would like to explore some information on your own, here are some additional tips and resources to get you started.
Questions to ask your Mental Health Care Provider
- What experience do you have working with GLBTT* people? With my mental health condition(s)?
- What do these services cost? Are any costs covered by my health care plan?
- What is your treatment philosophy or approach?
- How will your services complement other forms of health care that I am already accessing (or would like to access)?
- What is the most effective way of using these services (short term, long term, as needed, etc.)?
- Is there any limit to how long I can access services here? If so, will I be referred elsewhere if I am in need of more counseling?
